39,040 Sit For Unilorin’s Pre-Admission Screening

Over 39, 000 candidates participated in the pre-admission screening exercise of the University of
Ilorin last week. The screening exercise took place at test centres in Ilorin and Lagos where
everything went smoothly without hitches. The computer-based test brought prospective students from
across the country and beyond. Some of the students who sat for the screening spoke to Unilorin Bulletin expressing their satisfaction with the conduct of the test and for the manner in which the University went about the conduct of the test. “I have phobia for the computer but I find the computer here
easy to use”, is the way Ogunniyi Adesewa from Oyo state puts it. The prospective Law student said the “test was ok” and that she likes how the system runs at the University of Ilorin. When asked why she chose Unilorin, Adesewa simply said she chose the University because “Unilorin is my dream University.

Why we chose Unilorin, by candidates
Tijani Ibrahim who came from Lagos State to participate in the screening exercise said he chose the
University because it is free from hooliganism and cultism. Ibrahim, who hopes to study Economics in
the University described Unilorin as an institution where rules and regulations are obeyed. “The exam
centre is well equipped and the atmosphere is very nice”, he remarked.
According to Fumni Bolawi who intends to study Accounting in the University, “Unilorin is the best in
terms of teaching and uninterrupted calendar”. She said the facilities in the University are “tight”. It was
all smiles for the Ilorin-based girl as she said she was hopeful that her result would be very good.
By the time Unilorin Bulletin was speaking to Emmanuel Coleman, he already had his post-UTME test
result with him. The young man, who came from Kabba in Kogi State, appreciated the University for
releasing the results in a timely fashion. The prospective Chemical Engineering student said his choice of
Unilorin was informed by the fact that Unilorin is rated the number one University in the country and he
would always like to be associated with the best.
The screening results were released shortly after the screening exercise was conducted each day.
Candidates’ results can be accessed on the University website. The 2011/2012 pre-admission screening
exercise, which started on Monday (August 8, 2011) was rounded off on Friday (August 12, 2011).

Post U.T.M.E Requirements

Hope everyone did very well in your just concluded utme exam. Now that thats out of the way the next stop is the post utme which is the more important one, am sure everyone is wondering when the exam is going to take place and what it is going to compromise off, well only authorised staffs and admission office workers know that for now but the information will be passed across to everyone in due time, till then all u can do is to wait, prepare and pray. I will still be sharing the little information I have though.
First things first check to see if you meet the requirement for the course you have put in for:
(1) Agriculture Courses - http://www.unilorin.edu.ng/index.php/agric-admission-requirement

(2) Art Courses - http://www.unilorin.edu.ng/index.php/arts-admission-requirements

(3) Basic Medical Sciences Courses - http://www.unilorin.edu.ng/index.php/bms-programmes

(4) Business & Social Sciences Courses - http://www.unilorin.edu.ng/index.php/bss-admission-requirements

(5) Clinical Sciences Courses - http://www.unilorin.edu.ng/index.php/cs-programmes

(6) Education Courses - http://www.unilorin.edu.ng/index.php/education-admission-requirements

(7) Engineering & Technology Courses - http://www.unilorin.edu.ng/index.php/engineering-technology-admission-requirements

(8) Law Courses - http://www.unilorin.edu.ng/index.php/law-admission-requirements

(9) Sciences Courses - http://www.unilorin.edu.ng/index.php/sciences-admission-requirement

(10) Communication & Information Sciences - http://www.unilorin.edu.ng/index.php/cis-admission-requirements

That is not all, Unilorin also has its own cut off in utme depending on the course. For instance last year unilorin utme cut off for sciences was 220 while business and social sciences was 240. The cut off for this year is not yet out though, but everything you will need for the post utme will be channelled through their official site www.unilorin.edu.ng so you should check there regularly. I will also do my best to update you on proceedings.
To prepare for the post utme you just need to read your english and a little of maths and logic. It is usually cbt(computer based test) and you have to be time conscious.

Unilorin's 2011/2012 Admission

Since the 2010/2011 session is already over, this years admission process should be alot faster than last year when their admission list had so many problems people started to think whether it would ever be released. Last years admission process started by july/august when the post ume was taken, the result of that assesment was released the next day and by late august they informed candidates who have had a minimum of 50% in the assesment to log into their portal and update their information, with that development most people thought that the admission list would be released before the resupmtion day which was around late september, the day came and went without any list being released. All we heard was various news of what could have happened, we all had to be very patient then and the merit list was finally released on 28th of november and registration was to commence immediately, two other list was also released at later periods. 5 months later and the session is over.
The 2011/2012 admission would be alot faster than last years own, mainly because unilorin would not want a repeat of last years saga and also there is alot of time to prepare for the admission process. The only hindrance that is in sight is the West Africa University Games(WAUG) which unilorin is hosting. Since jamb is june, post ume will be by july and their list should be out by early september.
Advice to admission seekers do not use this years waec/neco it would not be accepted and there is no awaiting result allowed too. No need for any "runz", do not worry about catchment area either just read well for your exams and you will surely be admitted. GOODLUCK!!!

2010/2011 Session

Unilorin's 2010/2011 is probably the shortest session ever. The session began on 27th September for stalites and early december for freshers, there was no time for even chrismas and new year day breaks. For the freshers it was worse, there was even a class held late into the night on the 31st of december. Exams started late feburary to end by early march and after that an incomplete one week break before the rain semester(2nd semester) begins.
The rain semester seemed to be alot shorter than the harmattan semester, it started in the middle of march and ended on the 11th of may for 100 and 200 level students, as for other students they began exam on 2nd of may. Official exams for all student were over by 21st of may and now we can all begin a lengthy holiday until either late september or early october.
